I love the style of this coat, but was very disappointed to find that the 12-inch coat (which is what my dog measures from his neck to the base of his tail) was far too large. I would love to find this coat in a smaller size.
UPDATE-an 8in [XS] would be better - Excellent fit for bigger than a 5# Chihuahua May 5, 2010

UPDATE [in front leg movement] - since this is big opening he slipped leg up thru neck opening and toppled over while out side - Have a grenade key ring sewn at collar for leash - DO not rec. leaving small dog unattended in this.
May try shrinking -

Was hesitant at first - as to fit - well the pix tell the story -
It isn't that noisy - and need to add a key-ring for leash as not always out in a harness under to hook to ...
Rec'd 4th - pix attached - no way even though treat jar under it ...
Then today - the 5th - 56 degrees am so when over to get him and he got right into it - had him climb steps to see if front panel restricted shoulder movement - it doesn't.
As well as no sleeves to put front legs into a huge bonus for little dogs w/chicken legs!
[Did not try the underside back leg straps yet as not needed for him]
As to the lining - would be better if a fleece or soft jersey and not a nylon fabric which gets very cold very fast against little bodies.

All in all - would suggest trying - for smaller pets for sure

This is a great all-purpose dog coat. I bought it to keep my outside, short-haired dog warmer on winter nights. It is rugged and well-insulated, just what she needs. The reflective strips show up well, it is easy to put on, and it stays in place. It is the best coat for the price, I think. It does make a little "crinkley" noise, but it doesn't really bother me- maybe my dog won't be able to sneak up on the chipmunks and birds as easily!

I really like the design of this coat but it make a crinkly noise, somewhat like a crinkly cat toy. Other than that, I like it. I bought it for my dog to have a second coat, when her other one is in the wash. Maybe it will be less noisy after it gets washed.
Edit: It shrunk a little after a washing. Still makes a noise but not as noticeable. I bought a size 24 for my dog which is her size, but it was a bit small her. If I had to do it again, I would buy one size larger.
